System monitoring with PRTG

 

Remote system monitoring and automation, implemented on-premises or Cloud, including map design (see shot below).

Proactive system monitoring is the recommended approach to avoid downtime and performance degradation. Plenty of sensors bring business value:

• Is my system running? is the memory stretched, or disk space?
• Is my web/windows service running? Is the backup taking place?
• What is the value of this parameter in table X in database Y?

… most devices and software systems can be monitored and programmed to execute actions.

Curiosity: The probes turn out to be an effective IIS warmup technique improving the website(s) response time.

SCOM is the baseline but somewhat overkill for smaller organizations. In these cases, a perfect alternative is PRTG.
